- •HOS (Hours of Service) Monitoring: Always remember that a driver can only drive for 11 hours and be on duty for 14 hours per day. Factoring this in is essential when calculating ETAs.Time Zones: Never mix up the 4 main US time zones (EST, CST, MST, PST). Constantly verify which time zone the broker is referencing."No News is Bad News": If a driver goes radio silent, assume something is wrong. The truck might be broken down, so reach out repeatedly and immediately.Get It in Writing: If a broker approves any change over the phone (such as accessorial pay or schedule changes), always get it confirmed via email right away.Proactive Updates: If a load is running late, do not wait for the broker to ask. Take the initiative and report the issue to them immediately.
