Responsibilities
- •Own the complete FMCSA / DOT safety compliance program for the fleet.
- •Monitor, analyze, and actively manage CSA scores across all seven BASICs; build and execute a plan to reduce at-risk categories and hold every category below threshold.
- •Run the DataQ challenge process end to end: identify errors, prepare and submit challenges, and track outcomes.
- •Manage Hours-of-Service / ELD compliance — monitor logs, resolve violations, coach drivers.
- •Administer the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and DOT drug-and-alcohol testing programs.
- •Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files so every driver meets FMCSA and partner requirements.
- •Oversee accident / incident reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
- •Keep federal and state registrations current (MCS-150 biennial updates, UCR, and related filings).
- •Maintain eligibility and good standing on Amazon Relay, J.B. Hunt, FedEx, and monitoring platforms (Highway, RMIS).
- •Develop and enforce safety policies, driver onboarding, and ongoing safety training.
- •Report safety performance and risk directly to ownership.
Required Skills
Proven experience managing safety and DOT compliance for a U.S. interstate motor carrier.Deep, current knowledge of FMCSA regulations (49 CFR Parts 40, 382, 383, 387, 390–397) and the CSA / SMS methodology and seven BASICs.A demonstrated track record of lowering CSA scores and successfully winning DataQ challenges.Hands-on experience with ELD / HOS compliance, the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse, and DQ file management.Fluent working command of the FMCSA portal, SMS, the DataQs system, and Login.gov-based registration.
