Responsibilities

  • Search for and identify suitable loads using DAT, Truckstop, and other US load boards.
  • Pre-book loads in advance based on the truck's current location, destination, availability, and preferred lanes.
  • Analyze load details, including rate, mileage, pickup/delivery times, commodity, weight, and appointment requirements.
  • Calculate and compare rate per mile (RPM) and overall profitability
  • Negotiate freight rates and conditions with brokers and shippers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reliable brokers
  • Plan freight to minimize deadhead/empty miles and maximize loaded miles
  • Coordinate with dispatchers and drivers regarding upcoming loads
  • Monitor market conditions and identify profitable lanes and freight opportunities
  • Verify load information before booking and carefully review rate confirmations
  • Communicate pickup and delivery requirements to the dispatch team
  • Handle changes, cancellations, delays, and other issues related to booked freight

The ideal candidate has experience with DAT, strong English communication and negotiation skills, knowledge of US freight lanes and rates, and the ability to proactively plan loads, minimize deadhead miles, and keep trucks moving efficiently.
